Our Wedding Day Friday the 13th 2013 in The Mill Forge Gretna Green. Exceptionally special because as far as we knew we were the first heterosexual trans couple to go public in order to put a positive slant on Trans in the media.
This is the second of our positive media stories to promote trans awareness, about how our lives are just the same as anyone else’s in the general population. It was an amazing uplifting experience of acceptance from the media in which they let us virtually control the content of the story. We had been in Take a break, also on This morning, Radio Humberside, Look North and Calander. Our story went global and even on press preview on sky :)
Hull Daily Mail: ‘Gender-swap couple want their love story to give others hope
This was our third media coverage in Hull Daily Mail and as the headline states trying to give hope to others that there is hope of a life the same as everyone else after Gender Reassignment Surgery.
FA Cup Final
This was a special day as we had camped out all night to get our 2014 FA Cup Final tickets, Hull vs Arsenal so that we could go with our Sons :) It was special for me as it was something I’d always dreamed of doing in my male role :)
Trans Youth Hull
Helen and I Co founded Trans Youth Hull in 2013, we are just over a year old and run once a week on a Sunday afternoon. It is extremely important to us both as the trans youth of today are our the advocates of tomorrow. We are the first Trans Youth Group in Hull and we have good numbers including parents, siblings, carers and friends who come to support each other. We do this work voluntarily as we feel it is vital for the young trans people to have somewhere safe and confidential to come for support with their families and friends. We also run an adult group which meets once a month and been running 3 years.
This pic shows my chest after 5 operations. It was so crucial to have my chest as a symbol of my own masculinity. I have since had a sixth op to finish everything off. It’s taken 3 years as I was so large before. A process involving 3 lipo suctions and three chest lifts. On someone my size this isn’t usually done so I feel really privileged that Mr Kneeshaw at Castle Hill Hospital Hull gave me the option. In 2010 I was his first Trans Man that he was creating a chest for. Since he has done many men and women with great success. Helen and I helped him start this off and forge the link with Leeds Gender Clinic and eventually win the contract for this area :)
